Fantasia Latina
Fantasia Latina Dance Ensemble is LACA's very own dance company. They perform in numerous and varied functions including festivals and private functions. Fantasia Latina exhibits a new and fresh performance style that blends traditional folklore dance with contemporary dancing styles.
Although not all members of the group are professional dancers, their determination and work ethics shows great professionalism. We encourage the participation of anyone who is not only interested but also willing to put in the effort. The group is still just starting out but have gained numerous experiences over the past few years and will continue to do so in many years to come.
Taking into consideration that there are twenty countries in Latin America, putting all the possible forms of dancing styles under one umbrella is a very difficult and slow process, even more so because of the lack of formal choreographers from those many regions. Thus this process of constantly learning and experiencing new forms and styles, not only from Latin America but also combining western dance, will provide a rich and emotional experience for the participants.
Summary of the latest Activities
Numerous and varied performances: festivals, private functions, etc. It is regarded as one of the most professional multicultural dance groups in WA. Fantasia Latina has participated over the years in many iconic events in the Perth cultural arena, like the Latin Extravaganza, Tango Ball, UWA Christmas Project, Harmony Concerts, UWA Music Department Project at Octagon Theatre, LACA's Winter Carnavals and the Lotterywest Ball. This group has been steady and strong for year thanks to the tireless effort of group Co-ordinator and dancer Rosa Mantecón. The group's Artistic Director is Miguel Angel Soto Figueroa.
